Interview II

1. What is your favorite childhood memory?

I loved coming home after church on Sunday nights, raiding the fridge and freezer for whatever good food was to be found. And then we’d sit around and eat and talk – maybe argue and yell if we were lucky. Those were great times.

2. What in your life made you decide to become an engineer?

Just in case you thought so, I’m not an engineer.

True, my undergraduate degree is in industrial engineering, but I am an aspiring statistician and operations researcher as that is what my graduate degrees will be in.

Back in the day, I decided to get an engineering degree because I wanted to do something with numbers and math, I wanted to do something technical. Ironically, that’s pretty much why I left Industrial Engineering – it wasn’t technical enough.

3. If you woke up one morning and your hair was purple, what would you do?

I would hope that Amy liked it – which I don’t think she would – so I would look into some brown hair dye.

4. What is the saddest book you ever read?

I don’t think I’ve ever cried reading a book, and these sort of questions are hard for me to answer. I guess I don’t know.

5. Do you like cats?

No, not really. But that doesn’t mean cats don’t like me. There’s this old cat at my future in-laws house (can’t wait to drop the “future”), and I used to ignore her but she would still pay attention to me. She does ignore me now, though.
